I rather think of it as a right side up cross and an upside down cross with the slash to cancel them. ]
Oddly though I've seen this cross in ancient Japanese temples too, so it might have yet more meaning.

I disagree. This about making knowledge an ongoing process rather than a static relationship. Any of these maxims are to be used as a basis for exploration-- not a basis for tautology and sophism.

At times, 'truth' is counter-intuitive or highly contextual. This is one of those statements.
