A tribute to my favorite horror film - Lisa and the Devil. Directed by Mario Bava, it is a bizarre, complex and ultimately beautiful tale of love, death and decay, unlike any other. The music used is Rodrigo´s "Concerto de Aranjuez" which served as the title theme in Lisa and the Devil.

  • Lovely tribute! This is becoming my favourite Italian horror film ever. You can actually care about these characters (especially poor Lisa). I also don't know why people compare this to Suspiria, they're both INCREDIBLY different.

  • @rulesofachia I'm glad you like it. It's certainly a film that grows on repeated viewings. Yes, the comparisions to "Suspiria" are a bit silly, since their similarities are merely superficial. They are both dreamlike, bot whereas "Suspiria" is more akin to "The Company of Wolves" or "Lemora", "Lisa and the Devil" is closer to the arthouse horrors of Jess Franco and specially Jean Rollin (two very underrated directors btw)

  • @yllnmyntsk - Let's not forget Carnival of Souls too. This movie is clearly channeling that FAR SUPERIOR film. And the opening credits reminded me a lot of Roger Corman's masterpiece, The Masque of the Red Death.

  • @yllnmyntsk - I completely agree. And I was looking forward to seeing this for at least 5 years. I wanted to wait until it got a good special edition and I ended up buying it in Anchor Bay's boxset when the price dropped. I sat through it twice and then again with the commentary. It's just plain AWFUL.

To the video poster/uploader, good job at making the movie look artful. It is. But that's all it is. I think only a few people are going to really take the deeper meaning of the film to heart.

  • great movie... bava's # 1

  • Wonderful score, sounds very good!
