In August of 2008, Bill Moyers interviewed Andrew J. Bacevich, who is a Professor of International Relations at Boston University, as well as a retired Army colonel and West Point graduate.
In this powerful interview, Professor Bacevich makes a strong connection between excessive American consumerism and U.S. foreign policy, politics, and militarism, and speaks eloquently about the need for Americans to look themselves in the mirror.
In this version, the interview is edited and broken into 6 short segments.
The entire interview can be found here: http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/08152008/watch.html
I'm not sure what to say now.
I've heard anti-americanism which used the same themes.
This is not anti-americanism and it's a breath of fresh air.
We are (even I in Canada) living in a world of consumption. 40 years of this way of life, of this addictive way of life, will be hard to give up.
And there are those who preach change but who's only purpose is to take power and then stay the course.
I'm worried but I'm glad you uploaded this series.
Thank you.
