FOR THE RECORD... the late Majel Barrett ,first lady of star trek, is also another actor to span from taped 1964 pilot till 2009 film. she did it shortly before per passing.

To get my facts, I read books and watch interviews. Never has LN said, not even in "I am Not Spock", that he disliked S or ST. He's always said that he has a great deal of respect for Spock, which grew into affection

He's also said several times that if he could of chosen any character to be identified with, it's be S

@Trekfreek I'll answer my question for you. It was Harve Bennet's idea. He came to Leonard Nimoy and said "We are making another Star Trek movie, how would you like to have a beautiful death scene?" LN thought that this would be the last ST ever made, so he thought "why not got out in a blaze of glory?" and accepted. The day they filmed Spock's death scene, he was incredibly depressed, and when he saw the movie for the first time, tears were actually streaming down his cheeks.
