@ GuamChris oh don't you worry, I've heard plenty of their stuff. It's just that they didn't seem to feel the need to be blatantly offensive on television as do most of today's comics. They came across with a lot more class! Just like the old Oscars...the stars were glamorous and classy not agenda wielding idiots like many are nowadays!

I think a bit of irony may have escaped everyone here. While these jokes are clean in terms of language, many of them would not be aired today having been judged too sensitive or indecent. You have to keep the era in mind when judging all types of art.

@tammyvrba I take it you've never heard any of the albums put out by a few of these guys. ;-)

Everyone needs to understand that television standards have changed, not so much the comics. What you see here is by no means a collection of choirboys! These guys could, and did, get down and dirty with the best of them when not being censored. This is a difficult era to explain to those who grew up with cable television. This was back in the day when ABC, NBC, CBS and (sometimes) PBS were your only options. There wasn't room for the junk you see today.

@SkorpionOne Intelligent comedy... these days no one is smart enough to make people laugh without filthy words.

It truly takes waaaaay more talent to come up with "real" comedy. Just spouting a bunch of filthy insults does not necessarily a roast make!

Now this was when the roast where funny. Sorry but in my opinion, the classic roasts will always be funnier.
