in may 2001 when Chris Smither came to Paris to perform at the Hotel du Nord Elliott Murphy dropped by to say hello and catch the show. A couple of days later they came into my recording studio to lay down a couple of songs together. Steel Guitar is one of them. It's a Danny O'Keefe song. A short time later when Stacey Earle was in town with Mark Stuart I got them in the studio to add some electric guitar & vocals. So here you have Chris (guitar & vocals) Elliott (guitar) Mark (telecaster) & Stacey (vocals). It's a Sound Gallery layered session. There are other interesting combinations to bring out of the vaults.
