July 4th, 1976. The Ramones blow away 3,000 fans at the London Roundhouse and change the UK music scene forever. Plus some great footage of "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker" (London, New Year's Eve 1977).

  • The Ramones should've kicked Johnny Rotten's ass. I don't what anyone says, Rotten is joke.

  • The Ramones should've kicked Johnny Rotten's ass. He's a jnd a poser, I don't care what anyone

  • Ramones are simply the best band to ever live. They are the most influential rock band.

  • @yelldagain wtf the clash were the greatest punk rock band anyway no one could beat the clash.

  • I do a music quiz at an East London pub and I included a picture of the Ramones in the picture round a couple of weeks ago - I think maybe one team knew who they were - when I gave the answers I said - and the next one is The Ramones and this girl in her mid 30s said 'Who was that one?' - and someone shouted out 'The Ramones' and then she says 'Yeah - but who ARE they?' - she'd never heard of them - really sad and beyond belief.

  • Roundhouse show would have been epic!

  • @NeilThompson30 also most people only know maybe one or two songs from the Clash or the Sex Pistols (for the latest generation it is what they played on guitar hero), and the songs they do know from the Clash are more like pop music (Rock the Casbah, Should I stay or Shuold Go, etc)

  • Punk Rock spread in 1976 and 1977 just like the way Psychedelic or Acid Rock spread throughout 1966 and 1967. It came from a number of different influences that accumulated in a new sound for a new generation. Punk started in New York and England on different foundations but I think The Ramones brought it together when their first album came out. The British punk scene was sorta forming but came together when the audiences there saw and heard The Ramones.

  • @Lizardthing I think its called taking the piss..Its a British thing to make yourself seem humble with people you may be slightly in awe of to and break the ice...

  • I have been trying to post what you said but it wouldnt let me ..Just read your comments. Sex Pistols probably didnt get much from The Ramones, but The Damned and The Clash probably copied their style. No one played like the Ramones at that time they are legends..So are The Pistols. Different bands/styles.
