  • very nice. i applaud. i play too, and i just wanna know, whats that thing you have in your hand?

  • It is a noter. A stick really... You press down on the 1st string and slide to the fret. You can take a wooden chop stick and cut it in two... it works fine.

  • Nice job; what is the object you are using to slide on the string/s?

  • It is a wooden dowl made especially for the dulcimer that I got in a folk instrument shop many years ago. However, I have met some great dulcimer players who use a plain wooden match stick.

  • What tuning are you using on your dulcimer?

    DAA, DAD or other?

  • I believe I am using DAA

    I'm convinced-

I HAVE to get a dulcimer!

    Thanks, Lew

  • It's nice to see some one playing the dulcimer with a noter...the traditional way. Cool

  • THANKS GREAT ED

  • @allenshepard Hays* oops

  • Every time I hear this song now I think of Lee Hats in alices restaurant lol

  • I enjoy seeing the noter used as well, to see and hear the traditional side as well as some of the more intricate things people do. I'm a wee beginner on the Dulcimer but the noter gave me the idea to use a bottle neck slide on it. One night I was picking out Steve Howe's lap steel parts in the middle of 'The Gates of Delerium' - kind of eerie on the dulcimer!

  • respect

  • @morroti There's a company in UK called The Really Useful Music Company who do cheap Appalachian dulcimers and can probably post to Europe.

  • I am learning to play this song and this has been very helpful! Thanks for playing this beautiful piece! Nice Job!
