Kashgar called 'Land of Uyghur' the life and culture of Uyghurs are being destroyed by the hegira of Hans. Cityscape of the Silkroad is also being changed into a totally different style.Preservationists say the demolition of the Old City section of Kashgar is a blow to Islamic and Uighur culture. Hundred families already have been moved from Kashgars Old City, the best-preserved example of a traditional Islamic city to be found anywhere in central Asia, as the architect and historian, Kashgar though is not a typical Chinese city...

@minghan05 -- your so right! the chinks are so gung ho in demolishing ancient uyghur buildings yet, why can't they destroy the forbidden city also? it's just proper if they keep on insisting on modernity! lol... Fuck china!

If the locals do not have the problem with living in those conditions, what the fuck the Chinese Govt has got to worry? Also the city has so much history in it that buidling new residences will not retain the charm of the old city. The Chinese Govt has a penchant of demolishing everything that's old, from Shanghai old walls to present day Kashgar.
