Twilight Princess: Lakebed Temple - Clip Through First Gate

Not sure if this is new or not.

It is possible to clip through this gate faster than hanging on the lever to open it. However, you would have to clip past this gate twice in a segmented speedrun...

1. Once the 1st time.
2. You get the clawshot, save and quit. Then your next segment, you'd have to clip past the gate again.

It is still probably faster to clip through this gate twice than hanging on the lever to open the gate. However, it would be incredibly difficult to do so quickly imo.

The only way I have found to clip past this gate is to do a backflip through it at a certain angle. One big problem...to do a backflip, you have to hold the L button. When I kept attempting to do this, I would accidentally target a Chu once I pressed the L button. This happened about 7 out of 10 times I tried this. If you accidentally target a Chu while trying this, it will completely screw up the angle and it doesn't seem possible to clip through the gate while a Chu is targeted (maybe it is possible to clip through the gate while targeting a Chu, but I haven't been able to do it).

It is also fairly difficult to get a good angle to clip through the gate. The angle doesn't have to be exact, but it is hard to clip through the gate on the 1st attempt.

And in order for this to be a timesaver, you would have to clip through this gate twice on the 1st attempts, and hope you don't accidentally target a Chu. So, I guess this is technically a speed trick, but probably one that will never be used.

In the last part of this vid, I fall through the floor out of bounds. Out of the several attempts at clipping through the gate, this only happened once.

Why would you accidentally target a Chu?

A Chu is a bomb that keeps traveling forward, right? Why would pressing Z(L on the GameCube controller) target a Chu?

No, a Chu is a slug-like creature. There are several in the 1st room in Lakebed Temple. They are the creatures where after you kill them, you have the option to put "chu jelly" into a bottle.

You have to clip through it twice on a segmented speedrun. If you clip through perfectly on both attempts, this would save maybe 5 seconds...not much.

You can also clip through the Orodon gate that Link closes after leaving Rustle in the begining of the game. Just take a rock over to the left side of the gate (right on gamecube), and side hop into it. You should be half way though the gate if you do it right. Then you keep doing sholder rolls until you pop out the other side. I didnt find that, though. I saw it on a youtube video.
