Shkodra is the largest city of North Albania with a population of 110,000 inhabitants. Founded in the 4th century B.C., it is the entry to the Albanian Alps on one side (where we were headed) and the Adriatic on the other. The border of Montenegro slashes right through the middle of Shkodra Lake and it's possible to take a bus to Bar, Montenegro and then ferry over to Bari, Italy. Silly me, thought Shkodra was set right on the lake. It isn't...3kms/1.8 miles away.
The Outdoor Albania group strolled the side streets to see the remaining Ottoman houses, stopped at a particularly beautiful one and was invited in by the family. The wonderful family even offered food and coffee. I'll say it again, the people of Albania are warm and wonderful!
Excellent video, i was born in Shkoder!!!
