@MrBarri13 : I'm not aware of that. It could be a pre-selection process. But, normally officers must either be Captains/0-3 or first lieutenants/0-2 promotable to Cpt to even try out. I would assume the average officer going through selection has between 4-8 yrs in service and is around 28-30 yrs old. West pointers are good, but still need real service experience. Experience is something the SF really look for.
@jopalo31675 I have a question. I went to West Point with my mother for her reunion and in the dorms they had Special Forces try outs, do they have those because West Point spits out the best people or is it something else?
@dylang606 Yes, you are right. The 18X program allows selected individuals to enlist directly for Special forces training as a result of a pre-existing unique skill. An example of this is SSG Ayman Taha age 31, 5th SFG KIA 12/30/05 in Iraq. He was an Arabic native speaker working on his Doctorates when he joined the military. So his skill was his command of the Arabic language and his education. He was in his late 20s when he joined. So he had some life experiance.
First in Asia!!!
