Here's the recipe to make a good looking Rebetika music clip with the authentic distorted sound: 1. Put it on an old VHS tape in Long Play Mode. 2. Store it for 12 years in a hot and damp place (the bathroom would do fine). 3. For the finishing touch, upload it to YouTube.

This 4th episode in the series "Eis Anamnisis Stigmon Elkistikon" contains songs from Asia Minor written between 1900 and 1925. Untill I get the recordings in a better quality, I will continue uptubing from this tape.

Excellent. Rosa Eskenazy's version is also haunting, and more recent Savinna Yannatou's is also very good. I think that most are just improvisations on some fixed chords. Rosa Eskenazy's lyrics for example say "Many years you'll live, today that you have your name day" ;-P. Here I just can't tell what he's saying.
