  • OMG....Josh I love your voice, it's so deep, emotional, masculine, strong and angelic....You are an amazing singer..Keep up your excellent job and you deserved to be admired coz you are so adorable !!!

I love you Josh forever !!!

    ( kisses from Philippines )

  • I'm assuming you mean what the message of the song is. It is an anti apartheid song written by a white soldier in the 1980's who had been conscripted into the white armed forces to, inter alia, police and quell black uprisings in South Africa. The man he speaks about is the late PW Botha, the white president of South Africa at the time. It is a very poignant song for the vast majority of South Africans.

  • @splashydash: Josh means every word of that song. Please try and listen to him as he sings, he is being genuine! But @ the end of the day we all have our opinions but again try and listen to him without any biase towards him.

  • Extraordinary! Simply breathtaking. I'm literally weeping as I'm listening to this masterpiece. Josh's voice is so haunting which makes this song even more special. I am a South African and I can tell you that he has trully captured the feeling behind this song.

  • Of course, the tragedy is that "Weeping" is still of relevance to Palestine.

"He built a wall of steel and flame

And men with guns to keep it tame..."

"It wasn't roaring, it was weeping."

Tragically, for the inhabitants of Gaza it isn't "over anyhow" and it does still "matter now". "Weeping" is such a powerful song about oppression that is has to be sung with sincerity.

  • @carolinebza I'm glad I'm not alone in finding Josh Groban's rendering a bit facile. It's not his fault, I suppose; he's just a pop star. But the song has so much to say and Bright Blue and the Drakies do say it. I got roundly abused for my original comment so it's good to know I'm not alone!

  • @splashydash & vaughn, have to agree. He's a great romantic singer but for saffers, none of the meaning and heartache comes through.

Yutube URL of Bright Blue version with some wonderful photographs is watch?v=l678doHQ04U

The SSQ version with Vusi is also fantastic.

Right now, straight after Black Tuesday, this song has become so full of meaning again - are we really just going to chuck everything away?
