Information Overload - The Movie

Information overload describes an excess of information that results in the loss of ability to make decisions, process information, and prioritize tasks.

Basex produced Information Overload - The Movie to demonstrate the impact that the problem has on knowledge workers of all levels. From top managers to administrative assistants, information overload has a detrimental effect on our ability to perform at our best, leading to poor decision-making, slow project completion and stifled idea generation.

As a CIO, I have found myself investigating the problems of attention management, multi-tasking, and information overload over the past several years. We have over 50,000 information workers worldwide and the most recent internal estimate is that the cost of these problems is at least 350.000,- €.

I have however had some difficulty convincing my colleagues that this is a real problem. To get the point across, I recently began showing them this movie and it seems to have an effect..

Similar to what HerzogMatthias wrote, I too have been using this video with colleagues to help them understand why we are investing in the fight against information overload. I am the executive tasked with monitoring and acting on information overload in my company. I am trying a variety of approaches, including using some tools from Basex, and I think we are making good progress.
