    just wondering, would having no finish on them not allow bacteria and other uninvited guests so soak in?

  • @alexhb12333 To be honest I guess not. None of the wooden spoons I bought at the store had finish on them. I never notice anything wrong with them and I never had any health issues.

  • It's funny that you should be making wooden spoons now. Over the Christmas holidays I made 24 wooden spoons or so. Rather than using a pattern, I used our last remaining wooden spoon and traced it directly on the wood.  I've made some from ash and white oak, but using closed grain wood would have been better. Also, I didn't have a fancy burr/sander like you have, so I used a dremel. A lot more work, but they still look good in the end.
