  • This is a terrible rendition of a sacred and beautiful and haunting song. This version is downright disgraceful! Chapman butchered it!

Listen to the version done by Selah. That is how it's supposed to be done.

  • I admit...it's a different version. But it still has a haunting feel to it, but I love how he bring it up to a celebration with the realization of the arriving Savior. For years...crying out for a Messiah, and then...the Creator steps into His creation to save the people He created for Himself. Hallelujah :)

  • They should write Christmas carols about how horrible this rendition is.

  • Why is everyone comparing this to the original? It clearly wasn't meant to be the original, or it would have been like it. He wrote a beautiful piece of music, and it should be listened to independently, not compared to something else.

  • @dimstar4now May 21,2011 came and went. Jesus did not return. "Timeline only from Bible", you owe it to yourself to read what Jesus said. Matthew 24:36....."But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only."

  • Anyone know if the O Come Emmanuel may 21 version is on you tube or somewhere? I heard it on familyradio site but I want a copy to share...it is awesome

  • @dimstar4now not happening! It's a marketing ploy. How do you think the real GOD feels about it?

  • I don't like this version either and ususally really like Steven Curtis Chapman.

  • This is not a different version, it's a different song with the same lyrics. That would be like saying Schubert's "Ave Maria" is a "version" of Gounod's.

  • I agree that Chapman's altered tune is very nice, but I don't think it can compare with the original tune, which has lasted since the 15th C.

And sometimes I wonder if the motivation for rewriting such a classic musical piece is as much about art or religion as it is about being able to demand royalties. (Nobody has to pay anyone royalties for singing the traditional O Come, Emanuel.)

  • Emmanuel, Jesus Christ returns for judgment on May 21, 2011. Will you be ready? Follow my name to see my blog that has post with timeline only from Bible. You owe it to yourself to at least read it. Remember that Herod and the people of Jerusalem were troubled at the hearing of the news the Magi brought. They didn't want him to interrupt their lives. It is a dread warning, I admit. May God have mercy!

  • Hou ook van het origineel..

Maar ja.. iedereen zijn goesting hé

    Peter
