Anyone who saw Springsteen perform live in 1978 witnessed the epitome of live Rock 'nRoll. Nothing else comes close. Never. Ever.
The best show the Rolling Stones ever did was not even half as good. The best show The Who ever did a very, very distant second. U2, forget about it..

@JoeyPNB - There is a better version: from the the 1978 Cleveland WMMS show hosted by Kid Leo. The guitar solo on that version sends chills through me just thinking about it. Not sure where I found it but it out there...Also some of his best story telling.

I'm on pins and needles waiting for the rest of the 2012 tour dates... I'm rearranging my whole schedule to make sure I can see him!! One of my top five favorite songs ever!

Bingo. Spot on. Seen them all multiple times. Love the Stones. The Who were incredible. Bruce & the E Streeters in 78, otherworldly. Nothing Close. Never. Ever.
So beautiful..So sweet. Bought this bootleg in early 1979 from Rockin Robin Records and Tapes when I was 23 years old. The vinyl is in my storage room in Panama City, Florida. I am in Doha, Qatar. I will listen to this till I am in my grave!!! Thanks for the post. I owe you one.

@PANDOSING You're welcome. You're a veteran of this bootleg. No doubt about it that it's a good one.

Next to "Prove It All Night" This is, hands down, one of the best songs (this version) of all time! Is there a CD version available? One of the best guitar solos. This was Springsteen at his best from a very incredible underrated album "Darkness..." I just wish there was a video for this. Thanks for posting!! Thanks Craig Bruno San Vito Italy 1983

This particular Winterland version is only on the Winterland bootleg. It wasn't released officially. But there is a Because The Night version from December 28th, 1980 on the officially released LIVE 1975-85 album. I'm not sure if that's what you are asking or not. A video of this concert would indeed be great. And you're welcome.
