Web accessibility in civil society: Persons with disabilities in today's educational environments

Today's digital age has shifted traditional notions of how persons with disabilities are included in society. The principle of web accessibility will be explored in the context of educational environments. If we agree that individuals with disabilities should fully participate in today's highly interactive and real-time online education, what does it mean for the institution? What does it mean for faculty? What does it mean for staff? A great deal of national and international attention is being paid to this topic. All of these themes will be explored during a public discussion sponsored by Dartmouth's Institute for Security, Technology and Society.

Dr. Cyndi Rowland is the Executive Director of WebAIM and the Technology Director of the National Center on Disability and Access to Education, both housed at Utah State University.

Indeed, we can consider "today" as digital age. Almost anywhere, new inventions has been publicized. Yet, however, may this change would deteriorate what we ought to know - the education that we need to have. hence, it will become a stepping stone so that all people - rich or poor, able or dis able - would attain the Education that they are aiming for.
