Saturday June 16th, Gordie Johnson of GRADY did a Long and McQuade Guitar Clinic in Toronto. Taken with a digital camera, ignore the shakes. A gorgeous old BIG SUGAR song, this "Wild Ox Moan" will make you smile...

Missed the first line of the song in shock that Gordie was actually going to do the song. Had asked about it the nite before at the GRADY "A Cup of Cold Poison" CD Release at the Gibson Showroom...and so on Saturday, Gordie joked about not doing 'Wild Ox Moan' because "of all the moaning I did last night."

Methinks it still sounds pretty darned beautiful, non?

  • Gordie's in a band called Grady Austin now

My favorite times at the Commodore were Big Sugar concerts!

  • Heard there were many an awesome Commodore shows...

Gordie's band is called "Grady" and they are based outta Austin....ahh, Texas!

  • 102.1 the Edge in Toronto, played a song by Grady that I thought was called "You're what's happenin' baby"......it was really fast and punky. Is that the real name of the song? Anyone?

  • You got the name bang on...song is from the A Cup of Cold Poison album. If ya dug this song, you'd prolly also love "Chili Cold Blood" from the same album...

  • Why you gotta be like that?

  • I agree 100%. It's times like this that you want to tell the talkers in the crowd to either shut the fuck up and listen to the soul or do the courteous thing and talk out of earshot of the music fans trying to enjoy the musician.

  • The video is great, great artist. The CROWD is a different story: Shut the fuck up and pay respect to the man giving his all with his guitar on the stage.

  • I saw Big Sugar many times @ the Commodore and @ the Town Pump, man they rocked..

  • Gordie kicks ass, but I liked his style clothing wise when he was in Big Sugar. In fact I bought a sweet pair of black silk Hugo Boss pants from Harry Rosen that cost me $190 just because Gordie was a Hugo Boss man. Ya, they cost a bunch, but man are they sick pants. Dress pants styled like jeans but in a silky black material with stainless hardware. Bad ass!!!

  • This is great, really great- the 1996 electric version posted by corduroy41 is beyond great.

  • wolfgar2 - am totally with you here...and have shown enormous restraint in not decking well too many concert yappers. Seriously, people who feel the need to talk throughout shows and ruin other people's paid live experience NEED be told to shut the fack up.

[Wearing stilletos and stepping on toes has been known to move a person, however...]

  • I'm with you BICrockshow....and if this song, played for a woman doesn't get said woman aching and wanting in the bestest of best ways, she ain't got a soul, heart or pulse.

Take it from this [unpaid] woman - it ain't just a "guy thing."
