  • He's so wrong!

Equal tension DOES NOT equal equal pitch.

You want equal pitch at each lug point, NOT equal tension. Sometimes it takes more or less tension to get the same pitches at each lug point.

  • Nice.

  • Can't believe it. Who would make a tom tuning video and put intrusive music behind it? Crazy. It completely spoiled a very good presentation.

  • Tuning drums requires alot of pracitce. You need to have good ears to hear the actual pitch through the overtones of the drums. I've been tuning drum for 46 years and still work on getting it better. The more you understand how to achieve a sound the faster you will be able to tune them. Develop your own method based on everthing you learn. Then your sound will always be consistent

  • @drumzac That is so true. I have been drumming for 46 years and I've gotten good at tuning if I say so myself. I used to use a tension watch but found that equal tension doesnt mean equal pitch. You need equal pitch at each lug to get the drum to resonate a clear tone. Getting used to hearing the note is what takes a long time. I tune top and bottom to the same pitch on my DW's and I get a great sound. I use coated ambassadors on the top and clear amb's on the bottom. Just my 2 cents.

  • @drumzac well yeah i was just restating it lol

  • @bestdrummerever1234

uhh isn't that what I said? lol :)

  • instead of pressing down on the head, why not break the head in naturally?? tune it up, then play it for a while, it'll drop in pitch a little, bring it back up to pitch and repeat until the heads stop dropping.

  • @drumzac equal tension is bull crap ive tried it doesnt mean that your going to have a tuned drum is equal sound that your looking for

  • Bob Gatzen pwns this video.

  • Its because its an Evans Head ;)
