Coach Brent and kicking student during an Orange County kicking lesson in California demonstrate the "ankle lock", an important field goal kicking fundamental. Keep your ankle locked with toe down and out and avoid flicking or scooping the ball off the tee. Trust your swing and let your leg's momentum drive through the football in one solid contact.

i have been noticing that when i skip in the end i tend to go to the right a bit..i am a left footed kicker. Should I be skipping more forward than the side? I feel like I have way more distance to get on my kicks but I just wanted to get your input.
soccerdrummer234 1 month ago
@soccerdrummer234 that's actually rather normal. I'm a lefty too (Coach Brent) and skipping down the line and a little to the right is 'correct' if you will. However, if you are not following through 'down the line' at all and just falling off to the right then that is bad. If that's the case, focus more on weight transfer and balance at/through impact.

When i lock the knee and straighten out my foot I get a solid conact with the ball, but my problem is that I am slightly kicking the ground before contact with the ball. How can I fix this? I feel like I need to shave down the bottom of my kicking cleat, even though its only half inch. Is this something I'm missing?
elitetrafficflow 2 months ago
@elitetrafficflow It could be your swing angle. Try swinging more 'back and through' versus 'up and down'. A field goal should have a natural arch that opens and closes a little. Check out the book on our site or if you're close to a camp location or lesson, sign up for one. All info on our website!
