This is one of the most effective techniques on planet earth. It is a one-striker.
Effective for all close-in fighting.

Your hand does not look conditioned or strong. I am 100% sure if you were to actually strike something you would do more damage to your own body then you would to the enemy. Until you condition your hand you should stick to palm heels and avoid striking with the knuckles.

@D3mang3l I forgot to ad, you can also allow this fist to be springy in that the finger safely extends on hard impacts flattening the knuckle in the event the target is more rigid than suspected (mis timing an abdominal strike and hitting a stiffened abdomen or aiming for an aim, and hitting bone).
The first few milliseconds of impact + pressure from this strike penetrate very deeply. and thus even if you let the finger "soften" as above, it can still be lethal against a soft vital point.

This fist is one of the first "pinpoint" hand strike forms students learn in my own system. It is an incredibly effective strike for any pressure/vital point technique, can double for submission applications as a press as well as a strike. This strike is fairly easy even for a beginner providing the Sifu/Sensei instructs them on the proper targets and angles to strike. The index finger in this posture is very strong structurally. We use both the open version, and this version of the fist.

My favourite fist is the phoenix eye :) Its the Best

Good Demo, we use this fist in Southern Praying Mantis. We Stretch the fingers then ball up the fist starting with the pinkie slowly closing into the eye.

wow. that's pretty good then. i've seen it done that way, but i feel like you'd have to tense your hand to hold it, where as the bracing you can use w/ a softer, fajing energy... hrm. i'm gonna play around more with your version, see how i feel after a few weeks.
thanks for responding!

Without proper conditioning, you would most likely break your finger hitting any hard surface with any fist. After conditioning, the goal of this fist is striking soft points and vitals.
Please post any variations you may know as a video response, I'm sure the viewers would love selection and different sources.
I hope my system doesn't get you too worked up!
Best wishes.

We use a lot of on knuckles in Tsoi Li Ho Fut Hung....but the middle knuckle....I don't care much for the Phoenix but maybe someday I will appreciate it more....

I used to be a big fan of the middle knuckle. It's a better replacement for regular punching when in close.
But the Phoenix Eye fist offers a great maneuverability benefit due to the tilt of the wrist used to line the fist up. It's excellent for getting around and inside the opponent's guard.
Thanks for the comment!
