My favourite song on the "So Far, So Good... So What!" album. I've been planning on doing a cover of this one for a very long time, and have also got a few requests for it. So finally I have done it!

Recorded the 15th-16th of August 2009 using a Pentax Optio M30 regular digital camera, audio recorded with an iAudio 7. Edited using Magix Music Maker 10 Deluxe and streamed as a 640x480 resolution Windows Media Video with 25 fps.

Guitar: Washburn X16 G13 (with EMG 81/85).
Amplifier: Peavey 6505+ and an Ashdown Peacemaker 412A cabinet with Celestion G12E-50 speakers.

Settings:

Lead channel:
Pre: 7.5
Low: 7.5
Mid: 2.5
High: 8
Post: 0.9
Resonance: 6.5
Presence: 10

Strings: D'Addario Regular Light EXL110 .010-.046
Pick: Dunlop Jazz III

If you rate it, please motivate and write a comment too. Thanks for watching!

The powertab I used can be found here:
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/m/megadeth/set_the_world_afire_power_tab.... "VikingMetalhead", it's not too accurate so I did a lot by ear, but it still uses the correct neck positions mostly.)

  • you should make a close up lesson of this with tabs. not enough of them up there and you played it really good , i like your version sounds like the real one probly is. nice tail too man mines down under my back but not as long as yours i cant wait till mine gets there. nice playing man please teach

  • @bluelightx17 I don't know, I'm kind of busy right now. Maybe later. Cool! :)

  • is the low E in drop D or no?

  • @theexpendable11 Megadeth used standard E on all records of the old days except for "Peace Sells", but that one was downtuned 1/4 of a step. So yeah, it's in standard E.

  • Awesome fuckin cover dude, basically spot on. Just the tone was a bit off :/ good job though :D just constructive criticism .

  • @Mofran56 Thanks! I never aim to duplicate the tone. What's the point? It's impossible to get the same tone unless you have the same amplifier or an amplifier with the same tubes and cabinet.

  • @MrSteelers7391 It's a pretty epic song, but I still think Megadeth's most intense songs are Black Friday and Loved To Deth. Seriously, you've got to check Loved to Deth out, it's a shame they never play it live. Truly an underrated gem. R.I.P. Gar.

  • @TheOzzybrass And that's coming from you? I know where the strings are, I look at the fretboard because they switch positions a lot. Blaming the camera? You're going to have to refresh my memory a bit. Are you saying it's entertaining to watch me play? Isn't that part of the whole purpose? You're so full of bullshit, man.
