Arctic Sovereignty became a contentious national issue during the summer of 2007. Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami President Mary Simon spoke out on behalf of the Inuit of Canada. In this television interview, she makes the point that the best way to assert Canadian sovereignty in the Arctic is with the people, and the people who live in the Arctic are Inuit. Broadcast August 5, 2007 on CTV's Question Period, hosted by Craig Oliver.
