I believe, in part, this was because it got so much water and it helped take the nutrients to its roots. The abundance is all about us, we just need to do things a little differently.

In the UK there is a movement to ensure planning permission is sought before home owners pave grass areas for car parking, due to the probelms of water run off suburban areas,there is now a huge market in permiable drive surfacing, grid grass.

Green or living roofs also help, great to see someone addressing the problem of water run off and retention, trace elements in rain water excellent for the irrigation of a lawn & veg, fix a pump and sprinkler, add a leaky hose in boaders. James
