SEP Detroit Mayoral Candidate Dartagnan Collier explains why he is asking city residents to vote for him, and workers around the world to support the Socialist Equality Party.
Actually the CPUSA did run a candidate in 2009 for Cleveland, Ohio's 14th Ward; Rick Nagin. And before that, they ran David S. Mirtz in 1996 for New York's 80th Assembly District.
The SEP is the only party in america that consistently fields competent marxists for political office. The CPUSA claims to be the biggest american communist party and they haven't run a single candidate in over twenty years.
D'Artagnan Collier tells it like it is, he is the only candidate, not only in Detroit, but, at this moment, in America, who correctly analyzes the issues within a coherent framework that incorporates class analysis.
If I were a Detroiter I would with much pleasure vote for Collier.

The part that SEP and many other trotskyist groups miss is that transitional demands are not just things you hand out on a flier.
You must organize for these demands, mobilizing the workers to fight for them, not just raising them.
