This should have been the last season. There was some good stuff afterwards, but after the Syndicate's end and Mulder finding out what happened to his sister, they pretty much tied everything up. "Requiem" would have been a great series finale. And this would have left room for more movies. The mytharc got so effed up in the last two season it made the second movie seem ridiculous - the FBI sweeping Mulders murder charges from the military under the rug and all that stuff.
