he must get through a forest of paper

@hokugi This guy is a pretty known calligraphist. He is demonstrating basics, so his characters are rough and blunt. Imagine you are explaining something to aliens about latin letters. You won't write Times Roman either.
+You guys talking about "wrong" etymologies are the most boring, mindless dogmatists. It's sad that linguists mostly try to reduce the origin of a word to a single source. It deprives the words and logograms of their organic structure, artistic layers and higher dimensions.

MORE! MOOOORRRRE!!!!

To IMA Management: This guy is a fraud.
First, his explanations are wrong. That first character (談) is a phono-semantic compound, where the meaning derives from the left (言), and the pronunciation from (炎). This is the universally accepted etymology as first classified by Shuowen Jiezi, published in 121AD.
Secondly, the skill demonstrated here would be below the minimum requirement for an elementary school calligraphy instructor. At a high school level, it would be a barely passing grade.

amazing how these symbols make sense like they do, and how they are created

I like the dramatic slow motion.

Thank you for taking the time to explain these characters.

Uuuuuugh.
This is wrong etymology. It's the kind of shit Americans come up with to make mnemonics for otaku to remember easier.
His calligraphy has no soul at all. No defining characteristics. No flair. It feels like he's executing a chore.
