In the past 2 years, a cohort of students from Lehigh University joined together working on a project called the Chinese Bridge Project. The objective of the project is to rediscover Lehigh's long relationship with China's first group of students that travel to the United States, bridging the two countries. Another objectives is to bridge students of different disciplines to design, engineer and build a physical Chinese style bridge on campus modeled after the Rainbow Bridge from the famous Qingming Scroll drawn in the Song Dynasty. In the summer of 2010, the cohort traveled to Tongji University, Shanghai and University of Science and Technology, Beijing to study and rebuild the unique structure of the Rainbow Bridge. In the up coming studio during the Spring of 2011, the cohort to bridge through time, combining ancient technologies with modern design to engineer a Chinese bridge to be built on campus as a symbol for the community.
