@BSproductions45 And it goes on sorry! But anyway I don't believe Andy Warhol is at fault for what has happened to art (and I know I will sound like a hypocrit now but) I believe alot of the problems is due to this capitalist culture. Andy simply made work about it, yes he was in favour of it, but the art collectors are the one's to blame!! Oh and Koons and Hirst..Those guys are frauds by no stretch of the imagination!There is really great contemporary art though. Hughes just SLAMS the big dogs

@BSproductions45 I know your going to hate my comment but here goes;
Andy Warhol derserves some level of credit for his versitality and honesty. He was inolved with graphic design prints, paintings, sculptures, films, wallpaper, photography, pop music groups, magazines, books, museum shows, tv commercials etc. He also was under no illusions of his position as an artist. He called himself a business artist he once said 'Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art'

Why Robert Hughes, why? Get over it, people can buy what they want, and appreciate what ever form it may be.

@JamesBStudios I have to disagree. Not all critics are coming from a place, like Mr. Hughes. He is a genuine, lover of art and the art world (as it use to be). He offers a perspective of clarity and insight, that is almost, never found. I will agree, that there are critics, who operate as if they wish they could create art and have some sort of vendetta against those who do create. Or see the art world as, non essential, and seek to discredit it. This is NEVER the case with Mr. Hughes.

@JamesBStudios Good job no-one gives two shits what you think.
-
An artist creates are and the collector appreciates it. A critic creates nothing other than an opinion.
They are no more an expert than you or I. And this Robert Hughes is very negative person. Who gives two shits what he thinks?
-
Is he cowering behind the corner of the wall at the end as Hughes leaves?
Hilarious stuff, but sad when you think about it.
I'm so grateful for Robert Hughes! Now more than ever, we need a critic of deep insight, tremendous writing ability, and pugnacity, who knows the likes of Warhol, Schnabel, Basquiat, and Koons are absurd charlatans who shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath with great artists.
I've always liked Klimpt's work, but claiming he is the equal of Leonardo is ludicrous, just like the pricetag for the Klimpt painting at the beginning of this clip.
Robert Hughes is our best living art critic.
