In this lecture, entitled External Evidences for the Truth of the Gospels, Dr. Timothy McGrew maps out the external and internal evidence bearing on the authenticity of the Gospels and explores some of the positive external evidence for their truthfulness. These include non-Christian sources and incidental historical confirmations. This is one hour of content followed by thirty minutes of Q&A.

This is PART 2 of a series of lectures:
01: Who Wrote the Gospels?
02: External Evidence for the Truth of the Gospels and Acts
03: Internal Evidence for the Truth of the Gospels
04: Alleged Historical Errors in the Gospels
05: Alleged Contradictions in the Gospels

What a cop-out statement. Worship and slavery, nothing wrong in worshipping one you believe in, but slavery, I don't think so. Anyways lets get real, who on this planet is not a slave to someone of something else? No one is free, that is a falicy. If you can go thru these lectures and not SEE the truth, you my friend are hopeless.

@Flagrum3 Your religion is clouding your reason. I don't have to believe that ANY historical figure existed or the stuff written about them is true. Their lives don't affect me one bit. But for someone to devote their life to worship and slavery for a fictional character is insane. There's a difference here, if you don't see it, you're hopeless.

I don't think he has the capability of actually understanding what was said in this lecture, if he even bothered to watch the whole thing, otherwise he would not be writing such rediculous comments.

You should change your name to Invisibrain, as you have no brain. Josephus' writings are a forgery? Really? Contemporary sources? Really? Take any personage from antiquities and show me any contemporary writings of them and then prove those writings are not forgeries lol......Idiot.

Yikes... using non-contemporary sources and know forgery (Josephus) will NOT help your case for the historical proof of the Truth.

It would be rather hard to observe any historical event yourself because none of us were there; which is what the empirical method demands at the very least. Rather, you would treat it like most things in history by using an evidentiary method. A method that requires reliable witnesses whose stories are corroborated (internal and external) about the supernatural events that took place.

What kind of evidence would convince you a supernatural event had occurred? And how do you define 'supernatural'?
