This is a good exercise if you intend to perfect your cleaving abilities of longer lengths of wood. The wood used is oak for the frame and willow for the slats. I would strongly advise you select your wood carefully (straight grain & knot free as possible) as this will make the process much easier. Here you can see it is not that straight, but is acceptable. My woods of choice would be chestnut and willow.
