Semiotics is an interesting field & this video piques my interest just that little bit more.
By the way, I know I was harsh with my last comment. I know that you won't cry yourself to bed over it, but I just wanted to convey my belief that being genuine when engaging is more important than civility.
Equally, I can appreciate the fact that you are necessarily constrained here on YouTube, due to your profession. I'll keep my beady little eye on you, Professor.
Peace.

If there is a problem w/ this, it's that we can't be completely certain what animals are "saying" to one another. Much in the same way you say they miss a whole level of our discourse, mistaking the beginning of the sequence for the whole, there may be an entire dimension to their communication that we're missing because it is too subtle for us, or something we don't think of as communication.
I'll have to check out your earlier vids on Bateson to see if you address this at some point.

Thanks for the clarification.

I would agree its very well spoken, but how could one lets say living in a ghetto apply any practicality to this type of language. What you need to address professoranton is that for many language is in excess to the point of luxury, is there anyway in your view to bridge the gap between the haves of luxury language and the have nots? Isn't language paralleling every other type of have and have not? Just food for thought.
