PBS Premiere: Wednesday, May 14th, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. (check local listings) Sprawled across six million acres in upstate New York, the Adirondack Park is by far the largest park in the lower 48 states. Yet it is the only one on the continent in which large human populations live and whose land is divided almost evenly between protected wilderness and privately owned tracts. Through the varied perspectives of many passionate characters, this program explores the remarkable history, seasonal landscape, and current state of the Adirondacks.

  • Living in balance with wilderness is a goal we need to focus on. This may provide examples of ways we can do that. Beautiful country.

  • Beautiful mountains! We camped all over up there for years. Many experiences with black bears and memories to last a life time.

  • When I was a young kid. I held a gun to a man and attempted to rob him. Cops pulled up, I ran, they gave chase, arrested. I was sent to a program in the adirondacks called (ADIRONDACKS WILDERNESS CHALLENGE). We hiked, slept in the wilderness for days. Nice experience I had up there.

  • I am blessed to have my family live there. And when I leave the city to stay with them, I sleep like a baby at nite! :)
