Monday, June 1st, 2009. Model 5T 9/12 port siren. Very rare to find one of these on Oahu. I managed to get up to eye level with it. You can see the chopper spool up and coast down. At about 0:19, you can see the siren spew out a dust cloud: something must have got chopped up in there! At 1:40, I stop recording sound because I couldn't hear anything else from the siren from my vantage point (roughly 100 ft away). Camera was very close to the siren, and I kept it recording until the chopper stopped.

  • is the bell at the school related to the siren going off??( ps howd u get up that high??)

  • @jtd321 Just so happened that the recess bell was at 11:45am, the siren testing time. Good timing on their part though.

The siren is on a hill and there's a park on the hill that is right next to the siren. That's how I got eye level with it.

  • old old and old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sure is.

  • Hey, it's the 1st video of a Model x in Hawaii!

  • they're not common here, so it was nice to record this. It was a surprise to me that it was a dual tone model 5 as well.

  • me and 2 of my friends are restoring one of these right now

  • poor thing

  • mostly every wednesday at 12:00pm they test there sirens

  • Looks like something form WW2

  • I seen those before in my state

  • Wind-up is like a P-10/P-15

  • @iwnproductions You forgot to mention that it was old.

  • Sounds like an SD-10

  • Looks ugly and beat up! Could probably use some paint.

  • Man, that looks beat-up! Slow pickup, but sounds quite good. It annoys me. I know I say this a lot on YT, but it bugs me that other communities will keep their old sirens working, but the Spartons (Sparks Withington) in my town were left for dead. There was a red one on the old Lincoln Elementary school that was removed when the building was converted to apts, and there's a bit black one on the fire station that's been silent since the mid 90's. FIX THEM!!!
