...... The SNES version is also unique. Aside from graphic and aural enhancements, the game has twenty levels instead of the original's thirteen; the original levels that remained had some extra rooms or different routes. Also, there are boss battles, some of which are not the typical swordfighters, and that involves not only swordfighting but dodging as well. The player was also given two hours to rescue the Princess (all other versions were limited to one hour). The prologue is also different, showing the Prince dating the Princess, then being arrested and beaten. The scene of the Prince being beaten is only available on the Japanese version of the game; it was censored in the North American and European versions. The SNES version was ported and developed by NCS and published by Konami in America and Europe. It will also be included in the Wii version of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.

@fuddascareyu SNES is the American version of SFC that censored lots of its games for even slightly violent or satanic imagery. For example, the part of this video where the Prince is poked with a stick by the guards, was removed in the SNES version of the game.

Doesn't make sense for the prince to be beaten and dragged to his cell unconscious anyway. When you start the game you start as soon as you are thrown in, i doubt he would have fully recovered and regained all his acrobatic energy in such a short amount of time

In all seriousness, I'm still bugged, for some reason, to this day that the SNES version was edited. I wish I could have gotten the full original experience of PoP on the SNES with this intro. Regardless...I absolutely love this game.

Super Famicom games were less censored than current ones on other Japanese consoles
