  • Do any one has the "PYAR NAHI HAI SUR SE JISKO" by Amjad Amanat and Fateh Ali in raag "Revati"? or "Gaavati"?, I don't know. It sounds like "Malhaar" I have an audio cassette.

    Nitin Raval

  • @nitin1240 I don't have that particular raag by those artists but the raag for this song is kalavati. You can search youtube and find the original song sang by Ustad Amanat Ali Khan and Noor Jahan.

  • indian music is not the same as it was before the arrival of muslims, muslim musician has influenced indian music to that extreme that it has changed a lot, muslim musician not just created new ragas but also changed the singing, khayal music which is prevalent in india now is because of muslim musian.. ALL THE GHARANAS of indian singing is established by muslim musican, just name any ; kerana, dehli, agra, gawaliar, jatpur etc

  • Amjad has such booming voice and probably better then many others including Asad (Late) and Hamid. I don't why he is not projected and why he doesn't sing solo light classical like Shafqat?

  • @nitin1240 its in malkaus not in gaavati...

  • I have heard myself UFAK saying Shab Kalyan, not Shoba or Shubh Kalyan. Shab here is pronounced as it is pronounced in in this Ghazal " Kal Chodhwen Ke Raat Thee SHAB Bhar Raha Chercha Tera"..

Shiv Kalyan is the actual name of this Raga.

  • 5:58 to 6:56 never heard anything like that before.....Awesome !

First time heard someone uttering the most soothing voice without opening the lips.

    UNBELIEVABLE !

  • @zrahin there is no raga named shoba kalyan, this is shiv kalyan being called "shab kalyan" by USFAK. It is not an easy thing to use hindu god´s name. This raga is in fact kalavat with RE in the descending.

  • @drnavinsingh american music. It is not a matter of religion or some psuedo patriotism. I am writing all this with good faith. I am one of those who believe that the partition of india in 1947 was a wrong decision, I am also proud of my hindu background, have even read mahabharata, ramayan and even gita with preface written by mahamatma ghandi. but let us enjoy music rather than arguing on trivial things

  • @drnavinsingh this has almost been turned upside down because of the influce of irani music. I don´t think this is right to call it shastria sangeet any longer. I don´t think this is right even to call it "Indian music", because this is the common hertitage of pakistan, india, bangladesh and afghanistan. I rhink a new term needs to be coined to express this reality. just the same way as is the case "pop music", jazz music or even Rapp music, which is entirely american creation but is not called

  • @drnavinsingh I think you misunderstood my point. I am not trying to prove the greatness of any civilization on other. Though my forefather has converted sometime back in history , but i am still pround of my our hindu ancestor like "karan singh" who has been ruler of malva at almost the time of tughlaq dynasty. but when we are checking the influende of one ethnic group on the other´s culture, then we have to accept that indian music is not the same as was back in the "shastar".

  • @kjaan , in pakistan many names have been changed because ofpressure from the society, all those composition which were carring the word of hindu gods or godesses have been dropped. I know ustad fateh ali khan personally, he start calling "Shab kalyan" and not "shoba klayan" as you have written. the original name of the raga is "shiv Kalyan". another raga named "shivranjni" is being called "malti" in pakistan.Very well know raga "chandarkauns" was being called "chandkauns" by ustad salamat khan.

  • @nitin1240 "PYAR NAHI HAI SUR SE JISKO" is composed in "malkauns" and not in "revati" or "gavati".

  • @RangiKhan BTW My Dads from GWALIOR!:)
