Karras was mad...but a mad genius. He was the one who built Garret's mechanical eye at the end of Dark Project, and this is why he has tried to kill him knowing that only the master Thief would have been able to stop his plans...as he did in fact.

This game came out 4 years before HL2. So if one borrowed from the other, it's obvious which one that is.

Just finished this game again for the who knows which time.
Ugh can be a very trying on your patience, but these little cutscene gems always made it worth it.

LGS knew how to make a good cutscene... notice how at 1:21 it makes you stare at the one servant until.... well, Karras kind of says it

=/ very depressing, very perfect end, the way he cups the remains of the rust gas, of Viktoria, and finally accepts what Artemus has been trying to tell him. Just listen to the emptiness in his voice at first. Such an amazing game

Thief II is the result of an absolutely excellent storyline mixed with amazing atmosphere, frightening, and yet propelling the player to proceed to stop the madness of Karras. This story blows the scripting of many films away, it's just that damn good!

"...was it written, in your books? All is, as it was written. And ther is more. YES... Tell me..." This is a very misterius ending, i thought Garret wanted to join the keepers again. Then i see in T3DS that he still hate's the keepers.
