Marine Diesel....with starter-generator.
This Starter-Generator Combo unit is very simuliar to a golf-cart starter-generator.
It's a Bosch Unit very much`like the ones used on early Harley-Davidson Gas powered 3 wheel golf carts.
It came to me a mess. All the wires were twisted inside from miss handling of the main terminal.
I restored the unit to like new condition and adapted a New Delco 12 volt Regulator to control it. A Ford Starter Relay works the "Start" side of the circuit. (Thats the bigger Red wire running behind the unit.
This is a great addition to any small engine up to 20 hp not equipped with a starter or charging system.
This little diesel has`a compression release to allow you to 'spin' the motor and use the heavy flywheel as help in starting an engine with 450-500 lbs compression as a diesel has.
I can design these systems.

I am located at 1991B US 501, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. I can be reached at 843-455-8062.

  • The Song in background is "Follow Me " by Uncle Kracker. It was just playing on shop radio while I made this vid, smiles

  • Smiles..... my dyslexia really showed on SABB ! It's funny I can look right at a word and spell it wrong. I know this engine is not built by the car & aircraft people which i believe is spelled SAAB ?.....My first G/F to bring me into the world of grrls & boys was Swedish . I was 19 she was 27 ...maybe the eye crossing experience with her got my SAAB and SABB mixed ?

  • Smiles this was my first SAAB diesel experience, no instructions ! I knew the compression release would stop it. The Fairbanks-Morse Engine in my other vids can be stopped by just holding in on the intake valve. I grew up in state of Maine ,mostly OJT , by yourself learning. smiles Glen

  • Show me a vid of this kawasaki unit. I have rebuilt many starter-generator combos. If it's a 24 0r 36 volt unit with batteries in floor board your best bet is a new motor (check E-Bay) Surprise me with a vid of it !...lol

  • Thanks for the comments. I have 47 years in the starter -generator rebuilding trade.

I still like it !....Old engines that do their job for decades are very appealing to me. Check out some of my other Vids.

My Starter and Alternator Business covers many engine applications.
