If you walk out to the breakwall at the tip of Magic Island, you could still see the face of Diamond Head at the far end of Waikiki. I don't expect that's changed much in the past 10 months. In fairness to your point, Honolulu is a major, urban centre filled with highrises. If you want a more idyllic paradise, you'll need to travel a few miles outside of Honolulu or to another of the Islands (Kauai in particular).
