The song "Jamie" by Scottish singer-songwriter Ali Thomson from his 1980 debut LP, Take a Little Rhythm.

Ali Thomson, born in Glasgow, is the younger brother of Supertramp bass guitarist, Doug Thomson.

The album Take A Little Rhythm was released by A&M Records and featured the top-40 radio hit single "Take A Little Rhythm." The second single, "Live Every Minute", charted below the top-40.

This one's a song about suicide.

LYRICS:
Wait a minute Jamie,
don't do that, don't do that
one little step away
and there's no turning back

Hold on there brother,
stop this foolish game
200 feet on a solid ground
and you won't quite look the same
no you won't just be the same

Escape, there's no escape
no easy way out
You can you run and you can hide
but sooner or later, you'll have to shout

Wait a minute Jamie,
there's nothing left to prove
step inside this concrete shell
and you won't ever lose

Forget about the cynics
Forget about the pain
Forget about the one who lies
and we'll smile again
you know you'll smile again

Escape, there's no escape
no easy way out
You can you run and you can hide
but sooner or later, you'll have to
Escape, there's no escape
no easy way out
You can you run and you can hide
but sooner or later, you'll have to shout

Ooooh, wait a minute Jamie
You will smile again
