Swedish school children started a worldwide effort in 1987 by sending money to Monteverde, Costa Rica to purchase rainforest and protect its priceless natural treasures forever. Today children from 44 nations have helped The Children's Eternal Rainforest become the largest private reserve in Costa Rica. This 54,000 acre preserve is rich with an amazing abundance of life including 154 species of amphibians and reptiles, 121 kinds of mammals, 425 bird species, over 3,000 different kinds of plants including 800 species of trees and 500 types of orchids, and over 1 million insect species. We are committed to protecting this biodiversity, and we encourage you to join us in preserving more rain forest.
