NOMA is caused by bacteria, so could be easily eradicated in the beginning, but people do not know that, until its too late. An actually existing anti-NOMA action (also with Peter-Ustinov-aid - great man) built a hospital to train native nurses and doctors in Niger - also from countries around - and mainly works on education (radio etc) so that people early go to get antibiotics before faces (mainly kids) are damaged (including English language explanation): hilfsaktionnoma.de
It was harder to tell what the man said - something about 'please help us stop short this disease at 'Against Noma'' it sounded like - but I'm not sure. Help me with the translation? Just a suggestion, but if you put a translation in the description and maybe a link to where people in the US can donate or especially a link to a webpage in English, I could link a lot of people I know here, to raise awareness. Most of them don't speak German, though. Thanks for helping raise awareness!
Also, I'm not real great at German (which made reading the website difficult, too) but I was able to translate the words out as meaning:"It costs to overcome this disease of the face that you see.But it does not cost much to prevent it.Just 10 Euros can save a life.As a condition of undernourishment & badly-kept hygiene NOMA attacks first the mouth & then devours the whole face.Information, prevention & antibiotics protect against it." Is that right?
Wow, a truly powerful, & saddening, ad. I was already aware of Noma, so this didn't come as a shock, but still moving. I wish more people in the US were aware of this disease, but I've never seen any ads or anything raising awareness. Not that diseases like malaria aren't truly terrible (my father has malaria) but NOMA is so easily fought. On the website you can donate in Euros, but we don't use those here in the States - do you know how someone in the US would donate to Gegen Noma? Thanks.

So in Australia would that be $10? So we just have to get everyone to donate $10 and so many lives would be saved?
