there is a difference in being native american by "birthright" and by blood. blood is thicker, and many of my ancestors were great cherokee and shawnee people. not all "americans" are TRUE native americans. don't mess it up.

@timbinhou Only a "little" research? I think that's a big claim as it would mean American Indians have a claim to Israel.

Thank you for this tribute, from a Native American to someone who apreciates what we were. But I'm a little confused about the part about Obama. Would you mind illiterating

do a little research that you may link many american indians to judaism prior to the continental divide centuries ago.... diversity is the key not just your special interest... so celebrate it all and take your blinders off so that you wont be white and i wont be tan... :) then we can all celebrate..... i understand you disenchantment but it takes baby steps and we just took a giant leap as a country ....so sky's the limit

@essillius omg babysteps so having a non white open the door to endless possibilities isnt enough? what exactly were you expecting? Wouldnt you consider Obama pulling us 1000 yrs ahead of where we were? hmm?

@Lovely1Divine1 That is why I am proud to be the "son and heir of a mongrel bitch". I am not kidding. Look at all the heritage we have inside. Your granddaughter can be proud of her Afro roots as well as her native American and European roots. I can't think of any culture that has nothing to be proud of.

@BlondeMorticia007 amen. I was listening to 2pac's line about "deeper the roots" and how proud he was of the civilization he came from in Africa. I decided I should learn my family's history and be proud of it. Once I realized part of my blood is Cherokee (just a fraction) I knew what to be proud of.
Yaaay:) Cherokee Pride^_^

My skin color is white, but my spirit is american. The natives are the true americans. The others are the real foreigners. However, since 400 years have gone by since European and other immigration, many others have been born here. We're all native americans, and we must respect that. In all honesty, the TRUE natives of the americas have never gotten the respect they've deserved for so long... It's time for change... And sadly enough, Obama's slogan has been entirely false thusfar, for all
