@haggard159 If you can't DIY then you are a big money waster. Sure a professional would do it but who has the money to do it?

but you didnt change the filter its recommended you change it every trans flush funny thing is though most shops dont even tell the costumer that thy just do the flush and that it i swear you think you can trust them but you really cant hell i had my tires rotated at one thy come back telling me i need to replace my entire fucking braking system and also when thy went "to check for vibration" the kid left some black marks leaving the lot i told the owner they can by me some tires now

What about replacing the filter? You need to drop the oil pan for that. The filter should be replaced together with a fluid change, although some type of steel filters don't really get clogged up. But most shops in my country never replace ATF fluid, no matter how many rebuilds they witness. BTW, that special ''Honda'' ATF fluid is just a marketing trick if you ask me, just so they can charge you more money.

@haggard159 Oh yeah buddy most of the technicians aren't certified.
How do I know this cause I'm a mechanic by second trade lol.
Besides Honda's have shity auto transmissions there prone for going out.

@haggard159 You really don't know what your talking about. Most guys I've seen at the shop are young kids messing around not putting bolts back and miss reading equipment.
Also most of the time your never getting the right name brand fluids in your car, your actually receiving generic transmission fluids, so that you can keep coming back to the shop more then you need to lol.
To me you should be scared of what kind of junk the technician is putting in your car when you just drop it off.

This is an honest, inexpensive, valuable and simple way of showing what shops are doing with their $4500 equipment, charging you $89.99. This is what their equipment does and nothing more. They will not use the premium, sometimes mandatory oil, mentioned in your manual, which is much more expensive. They use multi-vehicle oil. The owner thinks he got a professional job done. This is meant for people who can do their own work, use premium stuff and get better results than can a shop give.

@haggard159 but this is basic maintenance. i wouldnt use this method. i stick to the manufacturers or haynes manuals but this method seems to work and this car is a little older. But if he can save someone money on fixing their car, im all for it as long as it's safe. But I drive stick so this procedure is not applicable to me. I just drain my tranny fluid out of the and refill it

@DuallyDieselFord It is snobby and its also what I see as true. Plus, Im not knocking all DIY methods, just this particular one. Im sure you as well as I wont pay someone else to change our air filters, correct? But when it comes to potentially high dollar repairs to unscrew yourself from something you've seen here, its an idiotic decision not to have a repair facility do it. Any good shop has insurance to cover accidents, and should employ certified technicians.

@haggard159 Whats wrong with DIY. It saves a ton of money. While there are good technicians, that guy who just changed your oil and coolant at jiffy lube could have been bagging groceries the day before and know next to nothing about cars. I personally dislike dealer service. Your comment is coming across as snobby to be completely honest
