Look at all the craftsmanship involved in those films:
Amazing model work that looks a million times more real than 3-D
Fantastic orchestral score by Jerry Goldsmith, full of musical innovation,
Perfect lighting and rotoscoping.
A lost art.

By far the best warp effects...only with this effect, did you truly get the awesome feeling, that space is being warped by the drive, and the enterprise is entering this conduit....and you get to go with them...just for a few seconds....
Not just...oh look they are blurring away colorfully and fast....

The warp sound here should have been used in Star Trek: TNG (as another TMP tie), DS9, and Voyager.

Awesome scene, but that cheap-ass warp effect was horrible.

30 years later, this is still one of the best ending sequences to a Star Trek movie ever!! :-)

What I like to know is that when the Enterprise jumps into warp, it is like that we (for just a second) follow that ship, until she is gone. Is this fact true? Because usually we see other starships jump into warp (sling-shot) and then they are gone.
