7 Feb 2007: Dumb & Dumber paused at Marrakech while on the 4000 mile charity banger rally from Plymouth to Banjul in their £300 Peugeot 205. Filmed from the breakfast/cafe terrace at Hotel Islane. The noise of Marrakech traffic is only matched by the smell of exhaust fumes! This junction near Koutoubia Mosque and Djemaa el Fna was mesmerising! No road markings or traffic lights. The more you watch the more you see: The man pushing his moped against the traffic at 3:53; The cars zooming in from the left across the flow. At 3:45 the cyclist edges up by the taxi stop on the wrong side of the road. 4:48 a moped shoots across from left. Pedestrians strolling through buses, cars, donkey carts and mopeds. What do those policemen actually do? How do Moroccan drivers behind you manage to toot you the SPLIT SECOND the lights go green? How many can you get on a moped? Just what ARE the rules on the light controlled pedestrian crossings? And why have a taxi pick-up point there too?! What is the psychology that causes the traffic to stop and let out cars from the left, then resume? An easy way to while away an hour over mint tea and strong coffee!

  • the dumb is you and the dumber is your friend ^^ if u dont like the traffic just stay in your fuckin country

  • Why the swearing, and why so personal? Far worse than any comments we make on our little film! We liked Morocco, but the traffic in Marrakech was VERY different to Europe. We were interested that it DID work, to us it seemed puzzling & hectic. But that was the reason for travelling to different parts of the world, to learn how other lives are lived. And we'd do it again. Hopefully others benefited a little when we gave away our car & everything in it when we got to Gambia.

  • Amazing you didn't see any accidents!...I found it particularly life menacing to be a pedestrian in marrakech!

  • Did see 3 mopeds collide at speed in Djemaa el Fna. One guy looked like he had broken leg. Van was hooting for him to crawl outa the way! Also saw cop shout at donkey cart driver, then punch him hard to the head.

  • The traffic in Morocco is CRAZYYY, but it's not just in big cities. I spent most of my time in Kenitra where the streets are smaller and more congested. I was SO AMAZED at how hectic the traffic mix was with so many people walking blindly between cars and bikes or mopeds whizzing all over, yet I never ONCE in my four months saw an accident!!! It's interesting that we have more accidents here in the US and we have lights, lines, markings, signals, signs, and laws EVERYWHERE! Way to go Morocco!

  • yep ! it's diffrent from the other cities, u should see casablanca traffic too

  • The problem is not the traffic but the lack of any road safety. You've got to have super powers to avoid an accident or simply to be Moroccan..Dear Moroccans,no offence meant, you've got a beautiful country, especially Atlas mountains!

  • Is So hot in Marrakech, but a nice city! Ive been most in Safi Though!

  • yeah i love this city

  • morocco is beautiful

  • he is one handref rercent right we should learned from other people

thank u my friend and u wilcome ny time u want

  • You are being way too sensitive. I'm not criticising, just observing. I liked Marrakech but it's very different from Europe, which is what I enjoyed, and is one reason why I went. I have a busy life, but travel when I can to learn how others live. Also I don't live anywhere near London, don't go there that often. And if you don't like English tea, that's no big deal. Have some mint tea instead. It's lovely! Oh, Laraki101, I just looked at your one video posting, by the way.
