Since April of 2008, UHPA has been bargaining in good faith. Our Union has been offering creative solutions to a crisis created and made worse by the Governor.
UHPA has offered to loan the Administration the monies they claimed they needed to get through the crisis. This was rejected.
UHPA talked about freezing the hiring of any new administrators. This was rejected.
Since the beginning of negotiations, the UH Administration has not only rejected these solutions but has failed to come up with any of their own.
Instead, the deal they have handed us is this: Take a pay cut so we can balance our books AND we will leave the door open to lay off more faculty.
In their Last, Best, and Final Offer, the Administration refuses to state which programs or jobs, if any, will be saved if the faculty accepts what amounts to a 15% pay cut. For them, retrenchment is still an option.
That deal is not acceptable.
Here is our counter:
Vote NO on the Last Best Final Offer
Let us continue to negotiate, in good faith, with our existing, Evergreen contract.
This is not the Last
This is not the Best
Nothing is Final
Vote NO between October 5th and October 7th.
