@CassiusChrysanthe Like any civilized discussion that u want people to take seriously, please don't forget to backup the 'disclosures' that you make by citing appropriate references (eg. something like Kathamrita, Ch-X, or Chandogya-Upanishad, Sloke-Y etc. etc.). That way, people will have a fair idea about your understanding of the subject and credibility and (if the former is established first) about Vedanta in general.
@CassiusChrysanthe I think Youtube is hardly the place to disclose suff of this degree of sophistication. You could do a much better job by having a blog of your own, if you really feel so strong an urge to speak about these things publicly. But I would strongly reccomend you to disclose your credentials (as I call them ;-) ) first - so that you have some credibility. Also we have a vast body of reference, starting from the Vedas to the latest commentaries by Swami Vivekananda.
@CassiusChrysanthe That could be another lengthy discussion, on 'evolution of languages and their relationship with average mass spirituality'. But at least you have got my point on this one. Am happy now. :-) By the way, I am really curious to know about your Guru. Would it offend you if I asked his name?
@CassiusChrysanthe Only if your answers were satisfactory, I would have accepted any of your "corrections". I know, Youtube is a bad place to do something so important and personal. So lets both stop trying. Now, dear Cassius, can you live with NOT correcting people's misunderstandings: 1. Till you know what they understand at the first place. 2. Show your full credentials - to prove that yo u are worthy of commenting on the mater. (U know, like the police flash their badge b4 questioning u).
@CassiusChrysanthe And finally, you seem to be so hell bent to "correct my misunderstanding" - but what you are achieving in the futile attempts is shoving down your understanding (or misunderstanding, eh? ;-) ) of these matters down my throat.. Won't work, because if I ever was to take a lesson from you regarding these matters, I will first question your credentials. I would ask questions like how long have you been a practicing yogi? Which school of philosophy do you subscribe to? etc. etc.
@CassiusChrysanthe So you see, the use of the phrase 'leaving behind their mortal body' DOES NOT REFLECT MY UNDERSTANDING OF MATTER AT ALL - because its a language construct. Now tell me, dear Cassius, HOW CAN YOU CORRECT MY MISUNDERSTANDING IN THIS MATTER AT ALL, SINCE YOU HAVE NO CLUE OF MY UNDERSTANDING AT THE FIRST PLACE? So please STOP TRYING. Stop saying 'YOU MISUNDERSTAND' - firstly because its insulting, secondly because you DON'T KNOW what I understand about these matters.
@CassiusChrysanthe You see, as a language bengali is full of such inconsistencies. For ex. We call 'eating' and 'drinking' - both 'khawa' in Bangla, which translates as 'eating' in english. So when a bengali says 'Jol Khawa' (eating water ;-) ), he is "technically" wrong. But you see, its not his fault - because thats how the bengali language works. Because thats the CONVENTION in this language. That has exactly happened here. So I think its the inappropriate translation that u r focusing on.
@CassiusChrysanthe Dear Cassius, you have already admitted that you are not bengali and have no clue about the language. So it is impossible for you to know whats right or wrong within the language. It is a CONVENTION in Bengali language, that we refer to the deaths of "normal" people as "mrittu" (or death) and that of Yogis and Avatars as "Sorir Chere Deoa" (leaving behind their mortal bodies). (A technical mistake, eh? ;-) ) But what to do.
